Month of Poetry 2016

Shark alarm went off at PF today. Scared the pants off us, but it was only a small, white tipped reef shark. Happy to get out of the water though 🙂

5th January

‘Underwater’

 I’m underwater.

Bobbing, floating.

Swaying with

the kelp

Flowing

with the tide,

the swell.

Wrapped in

muted silence.

Fizzing salt.

Clicks and squeaks.

Popping ears.

My heart beats.

Lungs burning.

Re-surfacing –

Where is everybody?

I’m alone.

Swimming in,

people splashing,

frantic wading,

foaming white water.

Shark alarm!

I must have been

Underwater…

I can feel the drama in the poem. Yikes!
